On Tuesday, August 29, 2023, SLHA’s Circle of Friends (CoF) presented their evidence-based strategies for reducing social isolation among older adults at the Missouri Institute on Minority Aging Conference (MIMA) held in Jefferson City.
Each CoF facilitator shared how they encourage social connectedness amongst their members through group activities and friendships.
There is extensive research that suggests loneliness and social isolation significantly increases mental health symptoms, obesity, and physical inactivity. If you are at least age 62 and a SLHA public housing resident, consider joining the Circle of Friends. Click here for more information.
